misunderstood

come on, i'm sure i'm in love. all those accusers out there, i've been badly misunderstood. must clarify stuff. the truth is.. the poem came about due to a bout of reminiscence. yup that's all. =)

and just yesterday i was talking to willie and he was saying something about him hating being misunderstood. haha i totally agree! but i think misunderstandings are inevitable. in our daily interactions, we often conform to our own perceptions and understanding of a subject, and act accordingly. for example, we perceive girls to be more gentle in nature, and thus we tend to treat them more carefully, and are more sensitive to their needs. but due to differences among individuals, perhaps this 'nicer' treatment towards our female counterparts may sometimes be misunderstood as an attempt to attract or woo her. and misunderstandings occur, marking the start of incipient rumours that eventually may ruin relationships.

moreover, in the school culture where tongues wag unnecessarily and where two ordinary friends walking together after school can be misunderstood as couples, misunderstandings and rumours breed like rabbits in their mating season. haha nobody is an exception to the rule, for we have all been conditioned and influenced by our surroundings.

soaked in the saturated atmosphere of love and crushes, and under the impact of television soap dramas, we have mistakenly romanticized these feelings, making it appear as a wonderful thing, something everyone should strive for. but while love is definitely nice, a serious relationship has to weather the storm of trial and tribulations and brave the precipitous peak of fluctuating emotions and feelings. behind the make-believe wonder of boy-girl relationships lies a host of complicated and troubling problems that many fail to foresee or predict. but i guess that's what makes love sweet too, for only after experiencing the bitter and sour together, will the couple learn the true taste of sweetness.

and back to the problem of misunderstandings. with the occurrence of rumours, the parties involved tend to distance themselves in order to avoid or stop these gossips from becoming widespread. only the strongest friendship can withstand the force of peer pressure. that's why rumours ruin relationships. and that's why we should stick to the mantra of 'ignorance is bliss' and not advocate the spreading of false information by not doing it ourselves.

wheee... home's super boring. good luck to bb for waterpolo today and hockey tomorrow! i have faith in our players and believe that we can definitely bring the stronghold bw currently dominates down and construct our bbeautiful and bblessed kingdom of bb! haha and 5A guys are really nice people, especially royce and funx. =)

and to be honest, i had wanted to switch combinations from the very start of school.. but the people in my class made me stay on. so i hope i made the right choice. (:

and a nice quote!
I guess I should warn you, if I turn out to be particularly clear, you've probably misunderstood what I've said. Alan Greenspan
