thoughts of the day

1. On Cinderella, Prince Charming and Fairytales
Many people have longed for the fairytales we have so often read about to appear in their lives, especially when cascades of unfortunate events just don't seem to stop burying them, suffocating them. But do we really want to be in Cinderella's shoes, or in her case, to be in her glass slippers? People desire glamour and fame, but often overlook the downside to these ideals. Being a princess doesn't bring eternal happiness. Ever tried putting on a fake smile? Or wearing glass slippers the whole day? haha I'd rather be myself and be ordinary any other day.

2. Naruto
The more I read the manga, it seems as though there are more surprises to be revealed to the point where it will really be surprising if there are no surprises. haha but while being a fiction as it is, I really admire its ability to implicate everyday issues and current events into it. Through the plot and emotions, it has conveyed attitudes and behaviours that are intense and powerful. Fiction may be unreal and perhaps less 'informative' than non-fiction, but fantasy bears a special quality in it - that by transporting our minds into an alternative reality, we experience emotions and feelings that we'd never otherwise feel in contemporary context.

3. Free Ice-creams
Actually, giving out free things may not be a good idea. The basis behind giving out free offers such as ice-creams (think Ben & Jerry's) is to advertise and market the brand name and the product, with the idea of promoting the firm's goods to a wider range of people who do not usually purchase them. But by doing so, it feeds on the inherent greediness of Man and generates long queues. These queues may instead create negative feedback - whereby loyal customers, as a means of avoiding the queue, may turn to nearby substitutes as they are more convenient, thus losing the firm of potential revenue. So, is 'free' a good thing or bad thing?

4. Montage
A picture made of a collection of microimages is called montage! But 'mosaic' can also be used.

5. Britain's Got Talent
Connie's voice is imba! Pity she didn't win =(

6. The Thing about Disasters
