#1: Friendships
Friendships are about essentially about trust and understanding - you do not second-guess your friend about his or her intentions. If a guy-girl friendship cannot withstand the test of scandals, it probably means the friendship has reached a plateau that can only be surpassed by reaching a closer understanding of one another, where there is a willingness to see past the veil constructed by others with their constant barrage of nonsense. 'True' guy-girl frienships? They are the kind who will ignore the probability of scandalization an action might result in. In other words, they will not allow their own personality to become a subordinate of external interferences.
#2: Scandals
Scandals drive a wedge between friendships. This reminds me of something I mentioned previously, haha otherwise known as the Triple 'R' Convergence: rumours ruin relationships. Of course, we are talking about the extent here. Mild scandals are alright because they are good for laughing at, but an over-saturation of it can irritate even the most well-natured of people. The issue here is of thresholds and limits, of knowing where to stop, and of consideration of your friends' feelings. The litmus test? If you know your friend well enough, you should be able to recognize his or her moods. That should be a good enough gauge for when you have crossed the line.
#3: Work
In a case where everyone does not feel like doing an activity that will not benefit themselves directly, what should you do? Wait out for someone who will sacrifice his or her personal interests for the sake of the group, which most people will be inclined to do so? What happens then? In this zero-sum game, the continuous wait for the 'sacrificial lamb' is what I will call an 'institutional hindrance'. Despite the rhetoric practised every day by people who preach about the 'greater good', few will actually do as they say. In any case, if you truly want to stop wasting everyone's time, including your own, the best thing to do is to simply volunteer yourself. The only way forward, the only way to reconcile everyone else's interests, is to subvert your own. But take it as an opportunity for yourself to better manage your time, a challenge against the unmoving Time, and perhaps, the ultimate winner is not the rest, but you.
