Yesterday was the best class outing ever (: Basketball, dinner, lanning and stayover. The highlight was really the lanning and stayover. For lanning, Mel was quite sporting and joined us for her first ever experience in lanning! We were also lucky to get one whole room to the ten of us and it was super hilarious shouting all the nonsense over the blaring noise of gunfire and grenade bombs. With all the backstabbing, all-knifer rounds, 'tactics' as well as 'sacrificing for the greater good' involved, it was a thrilling and abs-strengthening two hours spent playing CS.

After that, we went for midnight supper before descending upon Royce's house for more fun and games. Stratified into two groups of which one is the card-playing gang and, the other, the PS2-playing gang, the few of us in the latter group had lots of fun talking about interesting issues amidst our manly competition on the screen. Of pretty faces growing prettier, the origins of class coupling, songs and more, the night never once dampened our mood and energy, and instead served as the conduit for our foray of the wee hours, and we ended up barely sleeping. haha this reminds me: when asked how it feels like to be in the love, Pris and Wenchun chose to remain mysterious about it. It would have been pretty interesting to hear the rose-tinted accounts of people in love as they describe the the phase they are going through now, wouldn't it?
Breakfast was spent watching a thrilling and thought-provoking movie called Memento. Directed by Christopher Nolan, the same dude who produced The Prestige and Dark Knight, the movie is one about memory, with the protagonist losing his ability to construct new memories, and thus having to rely on notes, reminders, polaroids and tattoos to direct himself towards his ultimate goal, which was to avenge his dead wife. Such was the complexity of the plot (does sound a little like The Prestige) that we spent a while discussing the themes of the movie. Yijing and I were even researching on the movie so we could understand the thriller better. For those who have watched it already, you may want to refer to this analysis on Memento, which really provides an in-depth view into the movie.
And here are some nice quotes that I really liked (:
From the movie,
Memory can change the shape of a room; it can change the color of a car. And memories can be distorted. They're just an interpretation, they're not a record, and they're irrelevant if you have the facts.
I have to believe in a world outside my own mind. I have to believe that my actions still have meaning, even if I can't remember them. I have to believe that when my eyes are closed, the world's still there. Do I believe the world's still there? Is it still out there?... Yeah. We all need mirrors to remind ourselves who we are. I'm no different.
When I looked into his eyes I thought I saw recognition. Now I know. You fake it. If you think you're supposed to recognize somebody, you just pretend. You bluff it to get a pat on the head from the doctors. You bluff it to seem less like a freak. So you lie to yourself to be happy. There's nothing wrong with that. We all do it.
From the analysis,
The Sammy Jankis business is a dreamy conflation of a real story with events from Leonard's own marriage, events so horrifying and guilt-causing that Leonard has had to project them onto someone else -- poor, hapless Sammy Jankis.
Leonard has suddenly become an Everyman in a potentially infinite purgatory, blindly trying to revenge an act that has already been avenged, and finding himself manipulated, over and over, by people who would use a splendidly configured avenger for their own ends.

Mmm... I'm still caught awe-struck by the movie. Maybe I'll watch it a second time if I have the time.
Feel like watching The Usual Suspects, Sixth Sense and The Butterfly Effect, which have all been touted to be great movies!
Oh well, and the usual feeling of emptines right after exams hasn't ebbed away despite the very happening class outing yesterday. If you feel like talking about friendships, love, or any other interesting stuff, talk to me online! Talking is the best way to get out of this blank funk I guess.
