Yesterday was spent studying in the morning before going out from noon to night. First it was lunch with Brian, Eric, Funx and Arnold before I met Hwee Leong, Jiening and Lynette for a spontaneous outing at Orchard. Sean and Giraffe joined us later on at different intervals. We flitted around the area, had tea at NYDC before deciding to watch a movie.
Initially, it was supposed to be Mamma Mia, but the dare-devils in us just had to surface at the last moment, and our fates were sealed with a toss of the coin which decided that Mirrors was more suitable for us.
I have never really been very fond of horror films, though I have this tendency to want to watch one from time to time, just to 'add some spice' to life. It was more gory than scary, but to me, they were quite the same, so there were some scenes I had to watch with 'sheltered vision' (aka cover eyes) xD But the plot was pretty cool, so it turned out to be quite interesting towards the end.
Hmm after the movie, I was just thinking that it would have been quite freaky if demonic mirrors do exist in our world and that just having your reflection captured in them would create parallel identities of yourself. These personalities have distinct characteristics and distinct memories. They could do things we would not normally do (like who would kill themselves in such a gruesome manner ><).
Oh well. I wonder how people like Hwee Leong can stand watching the movie without closing his eyes once. I guess these people are either very analytical or very cynical, or both, such that they could dissect the virtual from the reality perfectly. I think the reason why we get so frightened by horror films is because artefacts from the movies continue to live in our minds, taking sustenance from similar objects in our daily lives (like mirrors, for one), and hence, continuing to project the fear we have felt during the movies onto our contemporary selves. haha but I think we're lucky in that memories fade with time, especially those we do not wish to retain, so after a while, we would forget about the film.
And I think all the talk about results and stuff have finally gotten to me, because I was just dreaming about it last night =S haha it was a weird dream actually, because the me in the dream got an A for history and a C for GP comprehension. Something like that. Ah crap, 4 papers tomorrow. Hope I did well enough.
Anyway, here's a site Wanjoo sent to the BB egroup. The guy used photographs to tell of a story of him and his Dad who doesn't have short-term memory. Very, very sad.
