The minute and the hour

He stands afar and watches the scene unfold,
as every second edges him closer to her.
Kindred spirits, they are called;
so similar are they, yet so different.
The moment steals upon them in uniform velocity,
and they embrace, as the face of time stops.
Feelings rich and sentiments abundant,
they stop and stare, yet speak of nothing.
Thus naught is harvested, naught is gained,
and the fabric of emotions sundered once again.
Gears of fate, they work on tirelessly,
hence the moment passes to become the past.
Converges and diverges, unites and divides,
the present cycle is fixed, to be on repeat.
Now, he stands close and watches the scene unfold,
as every second edges him closer to the future.
Have you figured out what I'm referring to? Had this idea during As, but didn't have time to let the thoughts take form. Finally got the chance (:
