for one more day

After dwelling in school for longer than I had planned to, I took the bus 93 and transferred to bus 25 which would eventually bring me to Kembangan mrt, somewhere close to home. Somehow, fate intervened and I missed the stop as I had fallen asleep on the short journey. Seemed like I'm more tired than I'd admit to myself. But anyway, due to this 'divine intervention', I ended up at Bedok interchange.

At this point, I figured since I'm so near to the library, I might as well visit it and borrow some books. It has been quite a long while since I have granted myself the leisure to read some books, so it was a refreshing visit (maybe it was refreshing 'cos of the frigid temperature xD).

Now, I'm reading For One More Day by Mitch Albom. Somewhere along the book, I read this phrase which seemed to sum up what I've been trying to articulate to friends recently, albeit in different contexts. "Kids chase the love that eludes them". We seem to chase after the things that is harder for us to get. Friendships. Love. Everything. Is it because these 'impossible' entities evoke an instinctive need for us to overcome the obstacles and gain immense satisfaction? This reminds me of one of the argument that supports monopolies - and that is, the high barriers of entry serve as an incentive, a motivation of sorts, for new firms to innovate and come up with new products to try and break through the seemingly-unreachable fence to achieve supernormal profits. In Economics, we call it creative destruction.

All of a sudden, I remember this writing on time:
Dear friend,
To realize the value of ONE MONTH, ask a mother who gave birth to a premature baby.
To realize the value of ONE WEEK, ask an editor of a weekly newspaper.
To realize the value of ONE HOUR, ask the lovers who are waiting to meet.
To realize the value of ONE MINUTE, ask a person who missed the train.
To realize the value of ONE SECOND, ask a person who just avoided an accident.
To realize the value of ONE MILLISECOND, ask the person who won a silver medal in the Olympics.

Treasure every moment that you have.
Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is mystery.
Today is a gift. That's why it's called the present (:
They say it takes but a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them... and an entire life to forget them. I hope I'll never look back at these memories in the way people look back at their vacations - memorable and enjoyable periods, but eventually, they were all moments that have come to past.

Anyway, here's a photo I just received recently (:

YAY! ... and stuff

WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! hahaha, the difference in moods i was feeling after meeting up my og mates was like 'tian yuan zhi bie' aka worlds part. class and lessons are fast becoming lethargic.. lol, but nvm, i'm glad that the few of us in l'egolas are still so bonded =) haha, then it became even BETTER when dex, jean and i went to check out the council results - dex and i BOTH GOT THRU THE INTERVIEWS! w00t! aha, could virtually feel my spirits lifted immediately after that. it was one of those underlying stuff that's been assaulting my thoughts recently, so it's a great relief and joy to finally find out that i'm in =)

after that, we went back lodge and played card games as usual. 'rat race' provided us with lots of fun and laughter as usual, and in the end, jean was the indisputable champion. mel came along after that and we taught her how the game was played, though she had to leave immediately after that. one interesting thing was her comment that i was 'high'. haha, admittedly, i was slightly off the rockets.. but i would say that's my 'normal' state. in class, i guess i'm in 'subdued' state most of the time since i can't find people of the same wavelength to talk to yet.. lolz x.X

anyway, after a while, dex jean and i started talking about more interesting stuff.. like names we would prefer to give our future children.. girls and guys.. our og and what we feel about it.. among other matters. lol, jean prefers 'alexandra' and 'alexander' whereas dex prefers 'michael'. can't rmb the other names. haha, for me, somehow names beginning with 'c' appeal more to me - 'clarissa', 'charmaine', etc.. for girls i mean. guys' names haven't really been thought of yet.

then we talked about school, og, classes and.. and the og talk was quite interesting, since all of us are from l'egolas. to keep it short, while disappointment was expressed at the size of the remaining active og members (it's sort of like 4?), we are glad to have met one another. i guess that's why spending time talking to friends and get to know each other better instead of rushing home to mug is so much more fulfilling ya? haha, contrary to popular belief, it's worthwhile 'stoning' and chatting away sometimes =D and i think the bonds we forged during this period will go a long, long way..

and then relationship issues were raised. one of the questions posed to me was, 'eh when do you intend to get a girlfriend?' ><

haha personally, i dun really have a fixed time period or anything.. for me, it's more like waiting for the 'right' time for the 'right' person. yup.. and what's 'right' o0? hmmm.. i guess it's when the other person and i have reached a stage where we're really comfortable with one another, and ya, like one another? lol, perhaps i'll be able to find her in this 2 yrs, perhaps not. maybe fate plays a more important role than most of us would like to believe.

now, i'm back at home typing this post, feeling extremely, extremely tired. and i still have lots of work to complete and responsibilities to fulfill. oh well.. maybe i should risk the banana+coffee ownage combo again =X lol.

school!

ahhhh! i can't wait for school to reopen! lol, as weird as it may sound, i think school's really interesting (apart from the homework, that is), especially this period of time. why? well.. for one, 5A will be getting new classmates tmr! haha, i've always liked meeting new people and making new friends.. so it's sort of fun and exciting to anticipate who's coming in tmr. yup, then we'll be getting our new timetable too.. with PW included! hope the new one is as good as the old one. haha, and i like doing project work with a bunch of fun and responsible people too.

there's something about rj that seems to revitalise people, or at least it does in my case. i could swear that the atmosphere is almost sentient and alive, encouraging friendships to form and bonds to crystallize, spreading the positive synergies everywhere! lol, it motivates me to make every day a meaningful one, and to derive as much joy and happiness as possible, and at the same time, sharing it with the friends around you.

i would say that comparatively, i'm much more active a person now as in ri, where everyone is constantly being buried under the multitude of homework, projects and cca, making life in school seem like a drudgery. the difference btw then and now, i feel, is that i'm making an effort to put aside time for more meaningful stuff, rather than wasting it away on games and other random stuff.

this is when i realised that in everyone lies an endless sea of potential - we can either work hard and sacrifice a little to draw upon this immense source to change our lives for the better, or let it lie dormant and enjoy the superficialities in life. the problem with the latter is that this 'sea' will slowly trickle away.. and once it's gone, it can never return.

and it's like a painter with his canvas. as a painter, only if you're daring enough to mix colours around to achieve the desired shades will your painting look nice. on the contrary, being too conservative and unadventurous will only result in an otherwise unattractive and dull painting. we are our own painters and our lives are our canvases. how the painting will turn out to be will eventually be our choice.

kk, i realised i'm getting too contemplative >< actually, this coming week is rather special to me.. 'cause i took a risk to mix a new colour in my life, and the outcome will soon be revealed. i hope i made the right choice.. but only time will tell. haha, wish me luck! =)

to conclude.. dare to try. dare to achieve. dare to be different.

l'audeamus - let us dare.

a crazy class?

i've always wanted to be in a crazy class. a crazy class can reveal the crazy nick and craziness begets joy and fun! and i've always try to look on the positive side of everything.. no matter how bad the situation i'll tell myself to find areas where i can learn from and improve so that history will not repeat itself. yea, some may say actions speak louder than words and it's easier to say something than to do it.. but i've sort of succeeded in conditioning myself into this mindset through various experiences in the past, so... ya, ok i'm being random.

anyway, back to my class. i like 5A a lot. we may not be an active bunch of people, but at least the people there are real nice. i dun mind it being 'un-crazy' actually, but there seems to be a lack of enthusiasm and cohesiveness.. and that's what dampening my passion =X i find it harder and harder to effuse enthusiasm on my part.. it's as if i'm being engulfed by an overwhelming atmosphere of.. death? i find it hard to explain how it feels.. it's like the feeling of becoming languish and.. dead? somewhere along the lines of that.

i dunno. class outing. 9 people. less than 1/3 of the class? hm.. maybe it was poorly organised. maybe march hols are simply too filled up with activities. maybe.

oh well.. i just pray that time will bridge the distinct rifts present in the class and bond us together. perhaps it's too early to judge. it's after all 3 months only.. rite? lol, maybe if i can find another crazy person in the class, we can help bring the class alive! then again, everyone in the class plays an important role.. we can only make the class fun and united if we are willing to put our differences aside and give it a try. forgive and forget, and the world will be a happier place to live in. =)

looking on the bright side, at least we had some fun last night! still waiting for the photos from siti/taufiq.. lol, we did that 'acting-cute' thingy again >< and sharyn joined us - jean, fiona, long qing, siti, taufiq, li jian, funx, woonie, and i - after we had our dinner to make it 10! we played a few lame games and had a li'l fun.. took some photos.. hm.. yea. that's about it.

lol, crap. i just realised i haven't started on hw.. and school's reopening soon! zZz.. wish me luck! x.X
