love is a choice... or is it?

i was just browsing through my contacts list when i saw eng how's nick: would you rather love someone who doesn't love you, or be loved by someone you don't?

it's sort of thought-provoking and i pondered over the question for a while, and realised i can't find an answer to that question. after all, love is such a mysterious entity.. it appears to exist in infinite forms, evolving in many different ways since time. of all emotions, love is the most magnificent, dangerous, and.. nebulous. it is magnificent because it has the ability to empower a mother to lift a car weighing more than a 1000kg to save her child. it allows a person to delve deep into himself to draw on previously undiscovered reserves to confront testing situations and survive.

yet, it is also inherently dangerous due to its potentially volatile nature and the difference in context it can be taken as. simply said, love can be defined in so many different ways that a madman in his demented state of mind might think that by inflicting pain upon his victims, he is actually lavishing them with love, which is, of course, soooooooooo wrong to even think about.

finally, it is nebulous for it exists in different forms and no two person can experience it in the same way. it is vague and such is its nature that nobody can apply the same formula to achieve the same result.

and that's when the question of choice comes about. love is a choice. you can decide who to love and how it is expressed. yet, sometimes, you aren't given a choice. a pair of close friends could one day have the feeling for one another, and thus marks the start of a relationship.

oh well, after coming back from class outing, i sort of lost my train of thoughts.. i guess if given a choice, i hope that the latter happens to me. it feels so... right, perhaps to have a relationship develop and progress like that. haha, but of course, i don't think i've found the one for me yet. and maybe it's too early to talk about relationships and stuff. i dunno.

to end off this post, here's an interesting article about mothers lifting 1000+ kg car -
