penpal!

Every extension of mankind, especially technological extensions, has the effect of amputating or modifying some other extensions. The telephone extends the voice, but also amputates the art of penmanship gained through regular correspondence.
Todd Kappelman on the works of Marshall McLuhan, the person who coined the term "global village" and the phrase "the medium is the message".
i think i shall start looking for penpals! as mentioned by kappelman, we can see that the advent of technology has brought about the demise of many artistic forms which are considered "archaic" or "old", such as archery and penmanship. and i really think writing letters is a cool idea! haha the use of "backward" technology will then make us rebels in this age of computerisation!

and i think the whole package of corresponding through letters - from the purchase of stamps and letters to the writing of the letter itself, and not to forget, the posting of mails! - makes the process very exciting and "sacred", in a way.
Handwriting is often referred to as "brain writing." Research scientists in the fields of neuro-science have categorized neuro-muscular movement tendencies as they are correlated with specific observable personality traits. Each personality trait is represented by a neurological brain pattern. Each neurological brain pattern produces a unique neuro-muscular movement that is the same for every person who has that personality trait. When writing, these tiny movements occur unconsciously. Each written movement or stroke reveals a specific personality trait.

Handwriting analysts identify these strokes as they appear in handwriting and describe the corresponding personality trait. Handwriting is like body language, but is more specific and is frozen for a more detailed analysis of our unconscious movements.

of course, a person can always work hard and change his handwriting, thus making handwriting analysis unreliable. but anw, i think it's still quite interesting, and it makes writing letters to one another more fun too! haha

yup! actually i also have another fascinating idea - writing to someone whose identity i do not know! doesn't have to be stranger, but like conceal your identity? haha so if you're interested in this nonsensical idea too, find a way to contact me with your address and we can start writing =) lol the only thing i ask of is that you are a student who's around the same age as me, which is 17 btw. haha this is to prevent me from writing to some pedophile or something ><

of course, if you are just interested in being a "technology rebel" and want to write, you can also contact me anytime! warning: be prepared for lots of nonsense xD

hehe i hope i can get at least 2 correspondence. this is gonna be fun! haha post-promos activities ftw!
The act of copying these quotations in your own handwriting is a way of making them your own. In this labor of love, you are preparing them as ingredients in the recipes of your own soul work.

This method soon reveals to you how active your soul is during your reading. At every stage of our life, month by month, our hearts and souls are hungry for nourishment and illumination. Subconsciously we know what we need, even if consciously we are not fully aware of it. So as we read - whether it is a novel, the Bible, the newspaper, a book on prayer - our hearts are scanning the pages more avidly than our conscious minds. When we have an 'aha!' moment and conscientiously copy down the passage that has triggered it, we are responding to our own interior needs.
Copious quotations speak to the soul
