today was another good day. or rather, yesterday. no sign of fatigue during the arguably most "hardcore" day of the week. first an appetizer with 3 lessons, followed by a break to prevent indigestion, after which the sumptuous meal of 4 consecutive lessons ensues. mmm, at least i'm happy that the myriad of knowledge from the various distinct disciplines had been digested well enough. haha but of course the highlight of the day was definitely in the morning.
so what's so special about this morning? just like any other mornings in recent times, there a heavy downpour that threatened to flood the council canteen. as such, being the rational people we are, we sought refuge in the council room.
imagine my surprise when i entered the room to find wanjoo NOT sleeping beside weiyuan, as was their morning routine! ahahaha but harmless teasing aside, that surely couldn't have been the highlight of the day, right?
yup, and so, upon the arrival of kovan, we finally could start our singing session! and being empathetic creatures, we then decided to emulate the downcsat feeling reflected in the dreary downnpour in our selection of songs. thus.. we sang EMO songs!
lol, i wanted to sing westlife! but the rest of the people there claimed that westlife songs shld not be considered EMO. so no bananas. =( instead, JAY CHOU's songs were favoured. This led me to make the very reasoanble conclusion that Jay's songs are EMO, which gathered an unexpected fiery response from shihua as she tried to defend her idol from this branding, as if it carried negative undertones. ahaha ok ok actually i exaggerated a li'l, she wasn't really very fiery.
anw! after a while, i noticed that the rain was almost stopping. therefore, to tailor to the new ambience, i suggested we sing songs with higher tempo, songs that are more upbeat. and of course, in nick's world everything has a reason. the reason for this change was to signify the sun's triumph over rain! good idea yea?
however, the rest of the ppl wasn't receptive towards this magnificent idea. instead, somehow this positive contribution engendered a violent retaliation in the form of flying pillows - directed at me. ahahaha, can you believe the great injustice at play? THEN wanjoo went on to say she pity sarah (tdae co-ic), shihua and anna (housed who happened to be there) for having to tolerate my nonsense! but it's ok, i pretended not to hear the highly groundless and inaccurate statement. =)
in the end, we continued to sing and be merry! songs definitely liberates people. it makes us feel more open. perhaps subconsciously we recognise it as a common language among Man, and reacted accordingly. in the end, when the bell had rung and signaled the moment of departure, smiles could be seen on everyone's face.
