the little boy and girl were lying on the grass, staring into the blue sky.
"i think you are actually a very noisy person," the girl said.
the boy looked at her, startled and surprised.
"you just choose to be quiet so others can fill up the silence."
the boy shared a little smile with the girl, before saying,
"are you sure we haven't met before?"
i think i like to prioritise the urgent over the important. and many others seemed to have fallen into the same trap as i have. too often, we fool ourselves into believing that the things we do, perhaps answering smses or emails we have just received, are important, and thus we spend time on it. we fail to see the greater picture that depicts our lives as we journey towards greater uncertainty, as a future that is all so gray looms before us. "i think you are actually a very noisy person," the girl said.
the boy looked at her, startled and surprised.
"you just choose to be quiet so others can fill up the silence."

over the years, influenced by the urgency conveyed by the immediate and mobile media governing our lives, we have grown to equate urgent as important, and got our priorities all wrong. urgent has become synonymous with the now, and by completing these urgent matters that may not be so important first, we find ourselves running a losing race against time. our time is runnnnnnnnnnnnnning out...
governed by technology and losing sovereignty of our very own lives to the tyranny of the urgent, we slowly become more myopic towards the bigger issues in life. the lens from which we view the world have become distorted and blurred, and our priorities seem ever less clear to us. what do we do?
and so, i have been learning how to say 'no' to the urgents, and teaching myself the courage to say 'yes' to the importants of my life. =)
a thousand mile journey begins with a step.
but would you have the courage to move your feet?
