99! 'jiu jiu'!

hahaha i can't believe that i've reached my 99th post. it has been 3 months and 5 days since i started blogging on that fate day, 13th march '07. and since '99' in chinese is auspiciously referred to as 'forever' or 'eternity', i shall talk abut something close to my heart - my batchmates in scouts. =)

haha one of the most memorable quotes i can remember is from marcus, and it reads,
"when i first saw nick, i thought he was damn pro at soccer."
lol but i wasn't pro xD
when i was first assigned to scouts in secondary one, it was with great reluctance that i decided to continue staying in the cca. after all, aren't scouts and uniform groups in general are boring ccas? haha, what a false stereotype ><

i can tell you honestly, even now, that many scout activities aren't fun. in fact, they are torturous & painful (batch dynamics), tiring & strenuous (camps), irritating & troublesome (layout), and even humiliating (sec2 batch item) sometimes. but as we traversed the road of time and hardship together, we begin to realise something. we are not alone.

for every seemingly-impossible task that was required of us, there would be batchmates who are standing behind everyone, pushing one another to reach our personal limits and beyond. for every punishment dealt to us, there would be fifteen others who are constantly cheering for one another, providing the pillar of support for everyone to cling on to as we braved through each trial and tribulation together.

for every drop of sweat, there will be fifteen accompanying drips of sweat.
for every drop of blood, there will be fifteen accompanying drips of blood.
for every drop of tear, fifteen others will be present to stop the tear from falling.

that's why our friendship knows no boundaries, for these boundaries that were defined previously have been crossed. what's left is a path to thread on in eternity together. definitely, there are those who are not as close. there are those who are aloof and adrift. but the old adage holds true. for only when you are willing to give, will you receive more than what you have given.

haha, i remember watching the sunset together with the batch on mt ayam in malaysia.
i remember the hardcore batch dynamics in front of lim boon seng's memorial stone at mcritchie reservoir.
i remember the thailand trip. the fan clubs. the great fun! and the many many amazing things we tried and learnt.
i remember the hours we spent at macs and kfc after camps to talk about our adventures and stupid stuff we did.
i remember the crazy camp proposal that we had to rush.
i remember our near-death encounters as many of us capsized while rafting on rapids.
i remember abseiling the waterfall together.
i remember...

i just realised there are too many things to remember and talk about =)
scouting isn't really that fun. it's the companionship, camaraderie and craziness that made up for everything. if there were to exist a tonic that could turn something nasty into something great, it would be such bonds of friendship that were wrought on fires of misery and torment.
There are many types of ships. There are plastic ships, wooden ships, and metal ships. But the best and most important kind of ships is friendship.
haha. ok i lost my train of thoughts again. k train sounds overused. i lost my ship of thoughts. yes, in-line with the post =)
