PROM II

haha didn't really spot any new couples that I personally know of, but one of the councillors got attached! Other than that, Prom was quite interesting and fun, what with the doing of hair together, rushing to the entrance of the ballroom and all the phototaking. It did remind me of vintage memories, especially at the finale of the psuedo-concert where we sand our batch song and watch a slideshow, and meeting with the many special people involved in the memory also made it more heartwarming. MBS6K, RI2G, RJ5A, L'egolas, scouts, council, dota gang, and many other people... yea, it felt nice to be able to see them all again :D mmm, it's sort of like completing the circle, if you get what I mean.

Prom started fast and ended even faster. Before we even know it, it was all over. We took more photos, trudged back to the hotel room, made a lot of mess, wasted time, had fun, walked to food centres, chitchatted, walked some more to a 24-h Macs, made a lot of noise, shared jokes, went back to the hotel, stoned, watched a muted, no-deal chinese show and made damn hilarious commentaries, talked a bit more, slept. And there, our final function together has concluded.

I guess it was really more enjoyable than it was memorable. I had a lot of fun with all the dudes doing our nonsensical and impromptu post-prom activities, but nothing in particular stood out and made the event memorable. haha watching everyone dress up in such nice dressing was great, but other than that, it seemed like another ordinary school mass gathering.

Went back home, and just as I reached my designated MRT station, the rain arrived with great gusto. Lazy to get an umbrella, I walked back home in the rain. The rain was the heavy downpour kind, those where lightning and thunder are absent and it was simply sheets of raindrops descending upon you one after another without respite. Yea, I like those kind of rain.

And as I walked back home in this favourite downpour, it somehow described what Prom in essence is about. Prom is like the process of rainfall getting heavier. When we first meet our friends and revisit the corridors of happy, sad, ugly and memorable moments, it was a drizzle - the silky memories softly and slowly penetrating through the haze of recent memories and clearing up the space for old memories to enter. As we reach out to more and more of these precious people, the threads that connect people to memory begin to multiply faster and faster, and what used to be drizzle gradually gave way to a steady patter of rain - we stop remembering those specific memories because it's all going too fast, and start, instead, recalling the feelings we used to share with these friends. Finally, the crescendo of conscious and subconscious reminiscence peaks, and the ordinary rain turned into a sweeping downpour that keeps us drenched - and perhaps we are all just trying to soak in the all the happy, sad, ugly and memorable stuff as much as we can even as we become inundated.

It is after all the final night, and despite our struggles to keep all these memories alive, news paths will be created, new meaning in life will emerge, and a new chapter of our lives will start to unfold soon. It is the last chance we have to breathe it all in, before we have to let it all go.

It was a wonderful night (:
